I had 10 days in paradise – The landscape of untouched Meghalaya. On the last day of vacation I am filled with dread.
Easing back to urban life is not feeling so easy. Perfectly shining glasses, air conditioning, the 12 inch soft bed are closer to my life than than the forest I left behind. But nothing seems real

I am in a luxurious quiet room but there is chaos outside and in my thoughts.

There is running hot shower but I haven’t worked for it. I haven’t discovered it with a hike that lasted all day. The water doesn’t taste sweet.

Why did I feel more at peace among old trees, simple people walking and trudging my own weight than I am here, in this hotel of comfort and room service?

Why do I keep coming back to rugged landscapes of mosquitoes and discomfort?
Because I don’t want to live the life of ants. With all due respect to the little ones, I want to sore like the birds. I want to see the world, the universe. Understand what creation was meant to be and where do I fit in?
Walking bare feet, drinking from a river, sleeping at nightfall, rising with the sun, eating as much as we need and not hoarding – this is where we started off. Somewhere along the way we have come so far away from our roots. Somewhere, survival turned into a rat race – a web of highly evolved honey traps

Let’s open our eyes! WE WERE BORN TO LIVE!!!
We humans were meant for leaps – leaps of creative thought, leaps of joy, leaps of wonder. We were not meant to live our lives in front of a laptop away from any sense of life!
A drastic flip is a difficult choice for most of us. So how about we reclaim our lives a little at a time? I know I am trying.
People tell me I am living my life and that they can’t do what I am doing. Well I am working a job to sustain my family but I am also focussed on creating a balance. I don’t want to be happy when I am old, I want to be happy now – happy today!
What is my method? – Live a little each day
- Chase after happiness – whatever it means to you. I find happiness in being with truth, simplicity and of course nature. I play with dogs, I listen to my daughter when she shares her original thoughts with me, I watch a butterfly flutter around in my terrace and I take long arduous walks to be in the presence of pristine waterfalls and ancient tress.
- Read & grow – There is a world out there that is far bigger than you can imagine. Busy with day to day chores and work, we tend to forget this. I read to seek out the world. It started with fiction of great authors and now I extensively read biographies and books on personal growth from the original masters. I regularly listen to thought leaders on podcasts or any other medium possible.
- Exercise – There is great liberation in knowing you have a body that will go the distance with you. You can’t work or travel without and you certainly don’t feel your best when you have many aches and pains that can easily be fixed with a good sleep and fitness regime.
- Build your eco system – A community changes everything. Over the years, by chance actually, I have built a bunch of friends who relate to life the same way as I do. Each one is busy with their own pursuits but we are all aligned to the same north star.
- Enjoying the now – This is the most important one. I am training myself to stop dwelling in the past and stop worrying about the future. Use thought to my advantage but not fall pray to emotions and drama. This is work in progress. Sometimes I even etch a reminder with a pen on my wrist but it’s worth – BE IN THE NOW.

If you are on the same path, come join me on this adventure! Let’s talk!
